Wargame Mat 31"x22" / 79x56,4 cm - Hits and Crits - Broken Plains - rubber mat - Godtear Compatible
Compatible with
The banner is planted, the score token sits one push from your side of the battle ladder, and the whole round comes down to a single hex. Broken Plains gives that fight a home: a Hits and Crits rubber mat compatible with Godtear, 31" x 22" (79 x 56.4 cm), with a hex battlefield of snow-dusted grassland cut by a stony stream and the battle ladder printed down one side.
Key features of the Broken Plains mat
- Snow, grass and a stony stream - snow-dusted ground with green grass breaking through, a stream winding up from the bottom-left corner to the top edge, a dirt track that crosses the field and forks, pale boulders and frost-covered shrubs along the edges.
- Hexes you can read at a glance - every hex has a light outline, so counting movement and placing objective hexes stays easy on top of the artwork.
- The battle ladder on the mat - printed down the left edge, blue towards the top end and yellow towards the bottom, so the score token moves on the same surface as the fight.
- One of four Hits and Crits Godtear designs - Forest of Whispers, Skullroad Temple and The Glades Temple share the same hex layout and ladder, so changing the artwork never changes how you set up a scenario.
- 2 mm natural rubber with an anti-slip back - a single-sided polyester print on a rubber base with a laser-cut edge, so the mat holds still while champions and followers move hex by hex, then rolls or folds for the trip to a club night.

Where the Broken Plains mat fits
Regular games at home - the starter sets come with a double-sided cardboard board; Broken Plains swaps it for rubber that grips the table, keeps the hexes and the battle ladder on one piece and rolls away when the game is over.
Working through the scenarios - each scenario puts its objective hexes in different places and sends warbands in from opposite edges; the stream and the track give you landmarks to plan around, and the light outlines keep hex counting quick.
Winter campaigns - Steamforged's Winter's Reckoning campaign kit tells of an unnatural winter creeping over the Eternal Glade, and frost-covered grassland gives those battles a table that looks the part.
What makes the Broken Plains mat different
Steamforged's own Godtear mat was also called Broken Plains: a neoprene mat with a cloth cover, offered as an add-on to the 2018 Kickstarter. It's sold out at Steamforged, and players were already reporting years ago that it couldn't be found new or used. This Hits and Crits mat is a separate design that shares the name: original artwork of frost and grass, a stream and a track, with the hex battlefield and the battle ladder on 2 mm natural rubber with an anti-slip back and a laser-cut edge.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Broken Plains mat an official Godtear product?
No - it's a Hits and Crits design made by Playmats.eu to be compatible with Godtear; Steamforged Games doesn't produce or license it.
Is this the Broken Plains mat from the Godtear Kickstarter?
No - that was Steamforged's neoprene mat with a cloth cover. This is Hits and Crits' own artwork under the same name, printed on rubber, with snow, grass and a stream on the battlefield.
Where is the battle ladder?
Down the left edge, between the two players' sides: blue towards the top end and yellow towards the bottom, so you push the score token along the mat itself.
Do I still need the objective hexes and tokens from my Godtear set?
Yes - the mat gives you the battlefield and the battle ladder, while objective hexes, banners, cards and tokens come from your Godtear sets and go on top as usual.
FAQ
How long does it take to make and send my order?
Products from our regular offer are usually made and handed to the carrier within up to 10 business days of your order. If your order needs more time, we let you know by email. Orders paid by bank transfer go into production once the payment reaches us.
How long does delivery take?
Courier shipments within Europe arrive within 3 to 5 business days of dispatch. Parcel post can take up to 2 weeks within the European Union and more than a month outside it. Every order gets a tracking link, so you can follow the parcel all the way to your table.
How much does shipping cost?
Free shipping from 200 EUR within the EU and from 400 USD outside the EU. Below these thresholds, delivery costs depend on the destination and parcel weight. The exact price is shown at checkout.
Do you ship outside Europe?
Yes. Besides Europe, we ship by courier to the United States, Canada and Asia. Courier prices outside Europe depend on the destination and the weight of the parcel and are shown in the cart before you pay.
What payment methods can I use?
You can pay online through Stripe or PayPal, which covers credit cards and many popular banking systems, or by bank transfer. Unpaid bank transfer orders are cancelled five business days after they are placed. All prices in the store are gross prices in euro.
Will I get an invoice?
Yes. On request we issue a receipt or a VAT invoice for your order. It goes into the parcel or arrives by email as a PDF file, sent to the address you gave when ordering.
Will the product look exactly like the photos?
Very close, but not always identical. Phones and monitors show colours in RGB, and each screen renders them a little differently depending on brightness and settings. We print in CMYK with our own calibration and match the print to the design as closely as possible.
Is the size exactly as listed?
Almost. Our materials are cut at high temperatures, so the final dimensions of a mat can differ by up to +/- 5 mm from the listed size. On a gaming table this difference has no effect on play, deployment zones or card layouts.
Can I return this product if it is not right for my table?
Yes. You can withdraw from the purchase within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason, by sending us the return form. You cover the cost of sending the product back, and we refund your payment, including the original standard delivery cost. Custom products made to your own design cannot be returned this way.
What if my order arrives damaged or I get the wrong product?
File a complaint with your order number, a short description and photos of the problem. You can choose a refund of the price plus delivery or an exchange for a new or correct product, and we cover the shipping both ways. We respond to every complaint within 14 days.
Can I cancel my order before it arrives?
Yes. You can withdraw from the order at any point until you receive it by sending us a statement, for example the return form. This does not shorten your 14-day right to return the product after delivery.
