Desert Battle Mats

Not all deserts play the same. Open dunes leave nowhere to hide, rocky ground breaks up every line of sight, and a ruined desert town turns the fight into a street brawl. That is why this collection is built around four very different kinds of desert rather than one shade of beige.

Four deserts, four ways to fight

  • Sandy Desert: golden sand with dune contours and wind-worn texture. The classic open battlefield for armoured pushes and long-range firefights.
  • Rocky Desert: parched, cracked earth with rocky formations in beige and brown tones. Uneven ground that suits ambushes and skirmish play.
  • Red Desert: cracked earth in deep reds and oranges, closer to Mars than to the Sahara. Ideal when your desert sits on an alien world.
  • Desert Ruin: abandoned walls and broken structures in the sand, for games that need cover built into the ground itself.

Picture a column of tanks kicking up dust across Sandy Desert, or two warbands circling each other among the walls of Desert Ruin - the same rules, a completely different game.

Pick the size, then the sand
The desert designs come in a wide range of formats, so start with the table your game needs:

  • 30"x22" / 76x56 cm - compact boards for skirmish formats such as Age of Sigmar Spearhead.
  • 36"x36" / 91.5x91.5 cm - the 3'x3' square for Star Wars: Shatterpoint, Star Wars: Legion skirmish or a Bolt Action Firefight! game.
  • 44"x60" / 112x152 cm - the matched-play table for Warhammer Age of Sigmar.
  • 72"x36" / 183x91.5 cm - the standard Star Wars: Legion battlefield.
  • 72"x48" / 183x122 cm - full-size tables for Bolt Action and Flames of War desert campaigns.
Rubber that does not mind the heat of battle
Every mat is a rubber backing with a polyester fabric top and a sublimation print. The rubber grips the table, the soft surface cushions falling miniatures and the laser-cut edges stay clean after months of use. Roll the mat up for the club and it lies flat again on the next game night. Many designs are available single-sided or double-sided - the options are listed on each product page.

Our mats are compatible with the games named above but are not official products of their publishers. Need help matching a desert to your army or game? Contact us and we will point you to the right mat. Browse the desert battle mats below and choose the ground for your next battle.
