Paved Plaza 24”x24” / 61x61 cm - mat for wargames
Compatible with
Across the piazza the setts run in fans and herringbone, worn smooth where feet have crossed for centuries, and the only cover is whatever stands on them - crates, barrels, a fountain, a wall worth climbing. Paved Plaza lays that cobblestone square on a rubber mat 61 x 61 cm (24" x 24") - the 2' x 2' board the Carnevale rulebook suggests for smaller games; the double-sided version keeps a grass field on its back.
Key features of the Paved Plaza 24" x 24" mat
- Fans, herringbone and worn setts - small grey setts laid in overlapping fan-shaped arcs and crossed by bands of herringbone, with cracks, broken and patched spots, moss in the joints and a few dark round marks in the stone.
- A size from the Carnevale rulebook - Carnevale is broadly written for 3' x 3', but the rulebook names 2' x 2' for smaller games, and its Acquisition scenario - 2 to 4 players with 75 ducats each - is set up on exactly that board.
- A grass field for open ground - turn the double-sided mat over for green grass and fights outside the city; the single-sided mat holds to the table with bare anti-slip rubber.
- Natural rubber, laser-cut - the cobblestones are printed on a polyester top layer, backed by natural rubber 2 mm thick, with laser-cut edges; the surface wipes clean, and you can roll or fold the mat to take it to your club.

Where the Paved Plaza 24" x 24" mat fits
The ground of a Carnevale board - the rulebook's rule of thirds splits a board into roughly equal parts water, ground and buildings, with buildings set against each other to make the winding streets of Venice - the plaza is the ground, so lay canal sections and buildings over it to finish the board.
Climb, jump, swim - Carnevale characters climb walls, jump to a point up to 3" higher that they can see, and lose 2" of MOVE when they start a move in water - so the street level matters as much as the rooftops above it.
Gangs of 1795 Venice - Carnevale has seven factions - the Guild, Patricians, Rashaar, Doctors, Vatican, Strigoi and Gifted - and a gang is a small handful of models, with 100 ducats recommended for one-off games; character stats, rules and FAQs are free to download from TTCombat.
Other two-foot street fights - there is no grid or zone marking in the print, so the plaza also serves as a town square for any skirmish game played on a 2' x 2' table.
What makes the Paved Plaza 24" x 24" mat different
Paved Plaza is the old-town counterpart to Ruined City: setts laid in patterns instead of broken slabs, scorch marks and rubble. Malifaux Paved Plaza (37" x 37") prints zone markings for Malifaux, while this 24" x 24" mat leaves the stone unmarked. The grey setts also sit well with the cobblestone bases TTCombat shows its Carnevale models on, and at two feet square this is the smallest Paved Plaza mat - the design goes up to 72" x 48".
Frequently asked questions
Is 24" x 24" enough for Carnevale?
For smaller games, yes: the rulebook suggests 2' x 2' for them, and the Acquisition scenario is played on it. Standard games are written for 3' x 3' and larger ones for 4' x 4' - Paved Plaza also comes in 36" x 36" and 48" x 48".
Where do the canals go?
On top of the plaza - no water is printed on it. Carnevale aims for roughly a third of the board as water, so add canal sections and a gondola or two.
Single or double-sided - what is the difference?
On the double-sided mat, green grass replaces the bare rubber on the reverse; the single-sided mat keeps the anti-slip underside that stops it sliding.
FAQ
How long does it take to make and send my order?
Products from our regular offer are usually made and handed to the carrier within up to 10 business days of your order. If your order needs more time, we let you know by email. Orders paid by bank transfer go into production once the payment reaches us.
How long does delivery take?
Courier shipments within Europe arrive within 3 to 5 business days of dispatch. Parcel post can take up to 2 weeks within the European Union and more than a month outside it. Every order gets a tracking link, so you can follow the parcel all the way to your table.
How much does shipping cost?
Free shipping from 200 EUR within the EU and from 400 USD outside the EU. Below these thresholds, delivery costs depend on the destination and parcel weight. The exact price is shown at checkout.
Do you ship outside Europe?
Yes. Besides Europe, we ship by courier to the United States, Canada and Asia. Courier prices outside Europe depend on the destination and the weight of the parcel and are shown in the cart before you pay.
What payment methods can I use?
You can pay online through Stripe or PayPal, which covers credit cards and many popular banking systems, or by bank transfer. Unpaid bank transfer orders are cancelled five business days after they are placed. All prices in the store are gross prices in euro.
Will I get an invoice?
Yes. On request we issue a receipt or a VAT invoice for your order. It goes into the parcel or arrives by email as a PDF file, sent to the address you gave when ordering.
Will the product look exactly like the photos?
Very close, but not always identical. Phones and monitors show colours in RGB, and each screen renders them a little differently depending on brightness and settings. We print in CMYK with our own calibration and match the print to the design as closely as possible.
Is the size exactly as listed?
Almost. Our materials are cut at high temperatures, so the final dimensions of a mat can differ by up to +/- 5 mm from the listed size. On a gaming table this difference has no effect on play, deployment zones or card layouts.
Can I return this product if it is not right for my table?
Yes. You can withdraw from the purchase within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason, by sending us the return form. You cover the cost of sending the product back, and we refund your payment, including the original standard delivery cost. Custom products made to your own design cannot be returned this way.
What if my order arrives damaged or I get the wrong product?
File a complaint with your order number, a short description and photos of the problem. You can choose a refund of the price plus delivery or an exchange for a new or correct product, and we cover the shipping both ways. We respond to every complaint within 14 days.
Can I cancel my order before it arrives?
Yes. You can withdraw from the order at any point until you receive it by sending us a statement, for example the return form. This does not shorten your 14-day right to return the product after delivery.
