Board Game Mat 85x85 cm - compatible with Twilight Imperium 4ed - rubber mat
Compatible with
Six hours into a game of Twilight Imperium, someone leans across the table for the objectives, a system tile slides out of line, and for a moment nobody is sure where that wormhole used to be. This rubber playmat, compatible with Twilight Imperium 4th Edition, puts a printed hex grid under the galaxy on an 85x85 cm (33.5"x33.5") surface, so every tile has a place to go back to.
Key features of the Twilight Imperium 85x85 cm mat
- Hex grid printed at 10.4 cm per hex - each system tile sits on its own marked position, so a bumped tile goes back to the right spot instead of being eyeballed into line.
- 85x85 cm (33.5"x33.5") square footprint - the galaxy gets a defined square in the middle of the table, and faction sheets, planet cards and each player's plastic stay around it.
- 2 mm natural rubber with a polyester top - a cushioned surface under tiles, cards and tokens that resists crushing and water, protecting the table underneath through the whole game.
- Anti-slip underside - the mat stays where you put it when players lean in to move fleets or reach for the strategy cards.
- Laser-cut edges and a UV- and scratch-resistant print - the cut seals the edge, which limits fraying and layer separation, and the artwork holds up to light and to ships being pushed across it every round.
- Compatible with Twilight Imperium 4th Edition - an unofficial mat, not produced or licensed by Fantasy Flight Games.

Where the Twilight Imperium mat fits
All-day game nights - a full game typically runs past six hours. The anti-slip base keeps the mat still and every system has a printed hex, so a galaxy that gets bumped in round five goes back onto its hexes instead of being rebuilt by eye.
Building the galaxy at setup - Mecatol Rex goes in the middle and the rings build outward along the grid, so the rows line up without anyone nudging tiles straight by hand.
Taking the game to a friend's table or a club - the game mat folds or rolls, so it travels with the box and goes back on the table ready for the next session.
What makes this Twilight Imperium playmat different
The officially licensed Twilight Imperium mat measures 91x94 cm and is laid out for up to eight players, and eight-player mats from other makers measure between 86x95 cm and 94x94 cm. This one is 85x85 cm: 6 cm narrower and 9 cm shorter than the licensed mat, on the same 2 mm natural rubber. On a dining table that also has to hold faction sheets, strategy cards and everyone's fleets, those centimeters go back to the players.
Listings for Twilight Imperium mats usually give only the outer size, but the number that tells you how the tiles will sit is the hex size. Here the grid is printed at 10.4 cm per hex, while Fourth Edition system tiles measure about 100 mm (4 in) across the flats.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an official Twilight Imperium product?
No - it's an unofficial mat, compatible with Twilight Imperium 4th Edition but not produced or licensed by Fantasy Flight Games.
Does the mat fit the 7-8 player galaxy from Prophecy of Kings?
The 85 × 85 cm mat comfortably fits a three-ring galaxy, which covers 3–6 player games (37 tiles, approx. 70 × 64 cm). At 7–8 players with the Prophecy of Kings expansion, the galaxy grows to four rings and measures roughly 90 cm at its widest point, so the outermost systems will extend beyond the mat. The game is still playable, since the tiles lie flat on the table as well, but a full eight-player galaxy won't fit entirely on the mat.
How big are the printed hexes?
Each hex is printed at 10.4 cm. For comparison, Fourth Edition system tiles measure about 100 mm (4 in) across the flats.
How much table space does the mat need?
85x85 cm (33.5"x33.5") for the mat itself, plus room around it for faction sheets, cards and the plastic each player keeps in front of them.
How do I store it between games?
Roll it or fold it. A tube or case keeps it rolled for longer storage, and if it ever gets damp, let it dry flat before you put it away.
FAQ
How long does it take to make and send my order?
Products from our regular offer are usually made and handed to the carrier within up to 10 business days of your order. If your order needs more time, we let you know by email. Orders paid by bank transfer go into production once the payment reaches us.
How long does delivery take?
Courier shipments within Europe arrive within 3 to 5 business days of dispatch. Parcel post can take up to 2 weeks within the European Union and more than a month outside it. Every order gets a tracking link, so you can follow the parcel all the way to your table.
How much does shipping cost?
Free shipping from 200 EUR within the EU and from 400 USD outside the EU. Below these thresholds, delivery costs depend on the destination and parcel weight. The exact price is shown at checkout.
Do you ship outside Europe?
Yes. Besides Europe, we ship by courier to the United States, Canada and Asia. Courier prices outside Europe depend on the destination and the weight of the parcel and are shown in the cart before you pay.
What payment methods can I use?
You can pay online through Stripe or PayPal, which covers credit cards and many popular banking systems, or by bank transfer. Unpaid bank transfer orders are cancelled five business days after they are placed. All prices in the store are gross prices in euro.
Will I get an invoice?
Yes. On request we issue a receipt or a VAT invoice for your order. It goes into the parcel or arrives by email as a PDF file, sent to the address you gave when ordering.
Will the product look exactly like the photos?
Very close, but not always identical. Phones and monitors show colours in RGB, and each screen renders them a little differently depending on brightness and settings. We print in CMYK with our own calibration and match the print to the design as closely as possible.
Is the size exactly as listed?
Almost. Our materials are cut at high temperatures, so the final dimensions of a mat can differ by up to +/- 5 mm from the listed size. On a gaming table this difference has no effect on play, deployment zones or card layouts.
Can I return this product if it is not right for my table?
Yes. You can withdraw from the purchase within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason, by sending us the return form. You cover the cost of sending the product back, and we refund your payment, including the original standard delivery cost. Custom products made to your own design cannot be returned this way.
What if my order arrives damaged or I get the wrong product?
File a complaint with your order number, a short description and photos of the problem. You can choose a refund of the price plus delivery or an exchange for a new or correct product, and we cover the shipping both ways. We respond to every complaint within 14 days.
Can I cancel my order before it arrives?
Yes. You can withdraw from the order at any point until you receive it by sending us a statement, for example the return form. This does not shorten your 14-day right to return the product after delivery.
