Battle Mats by Theme

Where is your army fighting? Before rules, points and lists, a battle needs a place - and the place changes how the game feels. That is why our battle mats are grouped by setting first.

Natural worlds

• Desert battle mats: golden dunes, rocky canyons, rust-red earth and desert ruins.
• Snow battle mats: frozen ground and icy rock, including Ice and Tundra.
• Lava battle mats: molten magma rivers and hardened volcanic rock.

Worlds at war

• Historical battle mats: fields, desert, winter and ruined towns on 6'x4' tables for Bolt Action and Flames of War.
• Grimdark battle mats: trench mud, glowing blight and dead necropolis cities.
• Post-apocalyptic battle mats: cracked highways, junkyards and cities after the fall.

Cities and machines

• Urban battle mats: ruined blocks, modern streets, futuristic districts and medieval plazas.
• Industrial battle mats: factory ruins, underhive walkways and rusted scrap.

Imagined worlds

• Fantasy battle mats: castle yards, ancient roads, deep forests and cursed land.
• Sci-fi and space battle mats: nebulae and starfields for fleet battles, plus Mars and alien ruins for ground wars.

Imagine the same two armies on Sandy Desert one week and on Ruined City the next - the rules stay the same, the battle does not.

How to choose

• Start with the theme that fits your army and your campaign story.
• Then pick the size your game uses: from 30"x22" skirmish boards to 44"x60" tournament tables and 72"x48" (6'x4') battles.
• Each theme page tells you which games each design and size suits, so you never buy a mat that does not fit your table.

Every mat is made the same way: a rubber backing that grips the table, a soft polyester fabric top that protects painted miniatures, a sublimation print that does not fade and laser-cut edges that do not fray. Most designs come single-sided or double-sided, so one mat can give you two worlds.
