Care Instructions
Correct care helps preserve print quality, shape and performance. Always identify the product material before cleaning or storing it, because different materials require different handling.
Rubber mats
Everyday cleaning
Remove dust and light dirt with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use aggressive detergents, stain removers, bleach, solvents or abrasive cleaning tools.
Machine washing
Heavily soiled rubber mats with a polyester printed surface can be washed using a standard programme suitable for polyester, at a temperature of up to 50°C, with a mild detergent. Wash the mat separately or with items that cannot damage the printed surface.
Drying
Dry the mat unfolded or hanging flat over a wide support. Do not tumble dry, iron or place directly on a radiator. Make sure the mat is completely dry before rolling or storing it.
Storage and transport
Store rubber mats rolled rather than sharply folded. Avoid leaving heavy objects on the mat for long periods. Use a suitable carrying bag or tube for transport and protect the printed surface from sharp objects.
Single-sided and double-sided rubber mats
A single-sided rubber mat has a printed polyester surface and a non-slip rubber underside. A double-sided rubber mat is printed on both sides and does not have the same exposed non-slip underside. Clean and store both versions carefully to protect the printed surfaces.
Latex mats
Latex mats must never be folded. Store and transport them rolled, because folding can cause permanent creases or damage.
Clean latex surfaces gently with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not soak the mat, machine wash it, scrub it or use aggressive chemicals. Allow it to dry fully while lying flat before rolling.
Dry-erase mats and maps
Use markers that are specifically suitable for dry-erase surfaces. Test an unfamiliar marker in a small, inconspicuous area before using it on the complete map.
Remove writing regularly with a soft dry-erase cloth or another cleaning method recommended for the product. Do not leave markings on the surface for unnecessarily long periods. Avoid permanent markers and solvent-based cleaners.
Dry-erase mats must not be folded. Store and transport them rolled.
Fabric mats
Clean fabric mats with a soft damp cloth or according to the care instructions provided on the relevant product page. Avoid harsh detergents, bleach and high-temperature drying.
Dice trays, tokens and accessories
Remove dust with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not immerse rigid, laminated, bonded or assembled accessories unless the product instructions clearly allow it. Allow all components to dry before storage.

Playmat care FAQ
How do I clean a rubber playmat after a game?
Wipe the printed side with a damp cloth. That is enough for crumbs, dust and most everyday marks after a gaming session. Skip strong detergents and stain removers, because they can harm the polyester surface and the print.
Can I put a rubber playmat in the washing machine?
Yes. A heavily soiled rubber mat can go in the washing machine on a standard programme for polyester fabrics, at up to 30°C, with a mild detergent. That covers the spilled-drink and greasy-snack disasters every gaming table sees sooner or later.
How should I dry a rubber mat after washing?
Dry the mat unfolded and flat, or hung flat on a drying rack, hanger or similar surface. Do not leave it folded or bunched up while wet, so it dries evenly and keeps its shape.
Can I iron a rubber playmat?
Yes, but only on the printed side, the same way you would iron any polyester fabric. Put an extra layer of material, such as a bed sheet, between the iron and the print to protect the design.
Is a rubber mat waterproof?
A rubber mat is water resistant. The 2 mm natural rubber base and the polyester top handle a knocked-over drink, so you have time to grab a cloth and wipe it off before it becomes a stain.
What is the best way to store a rubber playmat?
Store the mat rolled up, ideally in a dedicated tube or case. Rolled storage keeps the surface flat and ready for the next game and is the setup we recommend for years of use.
Can I fold a rubber mat?
Yes, when you need to. You can fold a rubber mat into a cube to carry it to a club or tournament, and it can stay folded for a while. Do not put heavy things on top of the folded mat, and every so often unfold it so it can lie flat and "catch its breath".
My mat arrived folded. What should I do?
Unfold the mat and lay it flat on a table or floor for some time before your first game. If you want to smooth it further, the rubber mat can be ironed on the printed side through a protective sheet.
Can heat or cold change the size of a rubber mat?
Slightly, yes. Rubber reacts to temperature, so a mat stored somewhere very warm or very cold can change its dimensions a little over time. Mats are also cut at high temperatures, which allows for a difference of up to +/- 5 mm from the listed size. Neither affects how the mat plays.
Will the edges of my mat fray?
Most mats are laser cut, which seals and welds the edges, so they do not fray even after long and intensive use. The largest mats, with any edge longer than 120 cm, are cut mechanically, and after very heavy use their edges may start to fray slightly.
Does a double-sided rubber mat need different care?
Cleaning, washing and storage work the same way as for a single-sided rubber mat. A double-sided mat has print on both sides, so it does not have the anti-slip rubber underside, and you can iron either printed side through a protective sheet.
How do I clean a dry-erase mat?
Wipe the drawings off right after the session with a dry cloth or paper towel. For lines that have dried on, use a damp cloth or a slightly damp towel. Each dry-erase mat comes with a free marker and a dedicated cloth for this job.
Can I wash a dry-erase mat or use cleaning products on it?
No. Do not wash a dry-erase mat and do not use strong chemicals on it. Both damage the dry-erase coating, and the damage can be permanent, so stick to a dry or slightly damp cloth.
What markers can I use on a dry-erase mat?
Use dry-erase markers, the same type used on whiteboards. The 0.7 mm PVC mat has a coating made for them, so the ink wipes off and the mat is ready for the next encounter.
Can I fold a dry-erase mat?
No. Folding damages the dry-erase coating and permanently ruins the mat. Always carry and store a dry-erase mat rolled up, preferably in a dedicated tube or case.
