Compatible with
  • Heroes of Might & Magic III: The Board Game

No town in the PC Heroes of Might & Magic III had sand as its native terrain, which makes the desert neutral ground. Desert brings it to the Battlefield expansion of the board game as a 57 x 42 cm rubber combat board: rippled sand under a 15 x 11 hex grid, a ridge of dunes on the horizon and a sandstone fortress with round towers.

Key features of the Heroes - Desert mat

  • Neutral battleground - no faction is at home on sand, so the desert suits any pairing, from Castle against Necropolis out of the core box to the factions added by the expansions.
  • Rippled dunes - fine wind ripples across the whole field, dunes on the horizon and a fortress under a blue sky with white clouds.
  • The Battlefield layout - 15 x 11 hexes with deployment zones two hexes deep on both short edges, tinted darker than the sand; the grid matches the expansion's combat board hex for hex.
  • Rubber that stays put - single-sided 2 mm natural rubber with an anti-slip back, a polyester top layer and laser-cut edges.

Where the Desert battlefield fits

Any two factions - Castle, Necropolis and Dungeon from the core box, or Tower, Rampart, Fortress and Inferno from the expansions - on sand, none of them fights on its PC-game home terrain.

Placing obstacles - players take turns placing the expansion's ten double-sided obstacle tokens - effects, obstacles, walls and gates - and no token may touch another one or a deployment zone, so the open sand between the zones is where those choices are made.

What makes the Desert mat different

Desert is the lightest print among the five Heroes mats - the others are Winter Forest, Swamp, Cave and Lava - and the only one set on terrain that no town claimed in the PC game. Pick it when a battle should not lean towards either army's homeland.

Frequently asked questions

Does Desert replace the Battlefield combat board?

Yes. The hexes and deployment zones follow the board from the Battlefield box, so the expansion's rules work on it without changes.

Is it made by Archon Studio?

No. Desert is compatible with Heroes of Might & Magic III: The Board Game but made independently, without a license from Archon Studio or Ubisoft.

Is the mat double-sided?

No - the back is anti-slip rubber, which keeps the mat from sliding while you move miniatures across it.

FAQ

How long does it take to make and send my order?

Products from our regular offer are usually made and handed to the carrier within up to 10 business days of your order. If your order needs more time, we let you know by email. Orders paid by bank transfer go into production once the payment reaches us.

How long does delivery take?

Courier shipments within Europe arrive within 3 to 5 business days of dispatch. Parcel post can take up to 2 weeks within the European Union and more than a month outside it. Every order gets a tracking link, so you can follow the parcel all the way to your table.

How much does shipping cost?

Free shipping from 200 EUR within the EU and from 400 USD outside the EU. Below these thresholds, delivery costs depend on the destination and parcel weight. The exact price is shown at checkout.

Do you ship outside Europe?

Yes. Besides Europe, we ship by courier to the United States, Canada and Asia. Courier prices outside Europe depend on the destination and the weight of the parcel and are shown in the cart before you pay.

What payment methods can I use?

You can pay online through Stripe or PayPal, which covers credit cards and many popular banking systems, or by bank transfer. Unpaid bank transfer orders are cancelled five business days after they are placed. All prices in the store are gross prices in euro.

Will I get an invoice?

Yes. On request we issue a receipt or a VAT invoice for your order. It goes into the parcel or arrives by email as a PDF file, sent to the address you gave when ordering.

Will the product look exactly like the photos?

Very close, but not always identical. Phones and monitors show colours in RGB, and each screen renders them a little differently depending on brightness and settings. We print in CMYK with our own calibration and match the print to the design as closely as possible.

Is the size exactly as listed?

Almost. Our materials are cut at high temperatures, so the final dimensions of a mat can differ by up to +/- 5 mm from the listed size. On a gaming table this difference has no effect on play, deployment zones or card layouts.

Can I return this product if it is not right for my table?

Yes. You can withdraw from the purchase within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason, by sending us the return form. You cover the cost of sending the product back, and we refund your payment, including the original standard delivery cost. Custom products made to your own design cannot be returned this way.

What if my order arrives damaged or I get the wrong product?

File a complaint with your order number, a short description and photos of the problem. You can choose a refund of the price plus delivery or an exchange for a new or correct product, and we cover the shipping both ways. We respond to every complaint within 14 days.

Can I cancel my order before it arrives?

Yes. You can withdraw from the order at any point until you receive it by sending us a statement, for example the return form. This does not shorten your 14-day right to return the product after delivery.
