Rain has only just stopped: water beads on the paving, moss fills every joint between the small square stones, and here and there a block has been shoved out of line or broken into rubble. Jungle prints that floor on rubber cut 61 cm each way - Bushido's 24-inch square battlefield, the table Relicblade usually uses, and a size Five Parsecs from Home allows, as does Stargrave. The double-sided version keeps a green grass field on its reverse.

Key features of the Jungle 24" x 24" mat

  • Small square paving under moss - the floor is laid in a regular pattern of small square stones, green with moss; where the light falls, every joint shows, and where the shade lies, the joints sink under the growth.
  • Wet from the last shower - a sheen of water covers the stones, with droplets and shallow puddles across the paving, so the ground looks as if the rain stopped a minute ago.
  • Heaved blocks, ferns and sunlit spots - some blocks stand proud of the paving, others lie tipped or split into rubble; ferns and small plants fill the darkest ground, and sunlit spots brighten the stones in between.
  • Polyester face, rubber body - the artwork is printed on polyester laid over 2 mm of natural rubber, and a laser cuts the outline; a single-sided copy keeps a bare rubber back that will not slide, a double-sided one swaps it for the grass print, and either rolls up or folds away.

Where the Jungle 24" x 24" mat fits

Snake samurai on home ground - in Bushido, the Ito Clan are at home on the jungle island of Izu, and finding an ancient temple to the snake god Orochi set them on the road to rebellion - their starter set has five models and 11 cards. Most games are fought at 100 Rice, with six or seven models a player, over five or six turns.

The Moldorf Expedition in Relicblade - Relicblade's first neutral faction is a warband of dwarves who left their underground home to look for riches, secrets and a world beyond their own; the set brings a Hearthguard, a Shadowfoot, a Bibliothecary and an Illusory Horror with a scenario, The Sorcerer's Vault, and its heroes can be steered towards the Advocate or the Adversary.

Bug Hunt, a Five Parsecs variant - Five Parsecs from Home: Bug Hunt hands you a Hunter Squad and sends it to clear alien lifeforms out of wrecks, abandoned colonies and run-down space stations; the enemy comes from 16 alien species with six leader types, and crew members can transfer from Five Parsecs from Home to a Bug Hunt and back.

Stargrave and the unknown - Bold Endeavour (2023), the fifth full-length Stargrave supplement, sends crews to explore new frontiers and meet new forms of life: five stand-alone scenarios, one of them - Plasmonic Hitchhikers - for solo play, eight new creatures, an Alien Artefact table and the Time-Walker and Paladin backgrounds.

What makes the Jungle 24" x 24" mat different

Undergrowth is a forest floor of moss and dark earth with patches of grey rock, Keep Yard lays irregular grey flagstones with weeds in the cracks, and Swamp is standing water and mud. Jungle is paved like Keep Yard but left out in the rain: a regular floor of small square stones, wet through, with blocks heaved out of place and plants pressing in from the shade - ground for snake samurai, a dwarf expedition, a squad on a bug hunt or a crew landing somewhere no chart covers. Among the Jungle mats for wargames, this jungle gaming mat is the smallest and the only two-foot square; the largest spreads the same paving over 72" x 48".

Frequently asked questions

Do the small squares work as a grid?

No - they are paving stones in the artwork, not a printed measuring grid, so measure the way your rules tell you.

What if the game calls for 3' x 3'?

Then take Jungle 36" x 36", the same print a foot wider each way. Stargrave's recommended table is 3' x 3', and Five Parsecs from Home suggests that size when you want room to manoeuvre.

Is the back printed with jungle too?

No - the jungle is printed on one face only. Turn a double-sided mat over and you get green grass with sandy bare spots; a single-sided one has plain anti-slip rubber there.

FAQ

How long does it take to make and send my order?

Products from our regular offer are usually made and handed to the carrier within up to 10 business days of your order. If your order needs more time, we let you know by email. Orders paid by bank transfer go into production once the payment reaches us.

How long does delivery take?

Courier shipments within Europe arrive within 3 to 5 business days of dispatch. Parcel post can take up to 2 weeks within the European Union and more than a month outside it. Every order gets a tracking link, so you can follow the parcel all the way to your table.

How much does shipping cost?

Free shipping from 200 EUR within the EU and from 400 USD outside the EU. Below these thresholds, delivery costs depend on the destination and parcel weight. The exact price is shown at checkout.

Do you ship outside Europe?

Yes. Besides Europe, we ship by courier to the United States, Canada and Asia. Courier prices outside Europe depend on the destination and the weight of the parcel and are shown in the cart before you pay.

What payment methods can I use?

You can pay online through Stripe or PayPal, which covers credit cards and many popular banking systems, or by bank transfer. Unpaid bank transfer orders are cancelled five business days after they are placed. All prices in the store are gross prices in euro.

Will I get an invoice?

Yes. On request we issue a receipt or a VAT invoice for your order. It goes into the parcel or arrives by email as a PDF file, sent to the address you gave when ordering.

Will the product look exactly like the photos?

Very close, but not always identical. Phones and monitors show colours in RGB, and each screen renders them a little differently depending on brightness and settings. We print in CMYK with our own calibration and match the print to the design as closely as possible.

Is the size exactly as listed?

Almost. Our materials are cut at high temperatures, so the final dimensions of a mat can differ by up to +/- 5 mm from the listed size. On a gaming table this difference has no effect on play, deployment zones or card layouts.

Can I return this product if it is not right for my table?

Yes. You can withdraw from the purchase within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason, by sending us the return form. You cover the cost of sending the product back, and we refund your payment, including the original standard delivery cost. Custom products made to your own design cannot be returned this way.

What if my order arrives damaged or I get the wrong product?

File a complaint with your order number, a short description and photos of the problem. You can choose a refund of the price plus delivery or an exchange for a new or correct product, and we cover the shipping both ways. We respond to every complaint within 14 days.

Can I cancel my order before it arrives?

Yes. You can withdraw from the order at any point until you receive it by sending us a statement, for example the return form. This does not shorten your 14-day right to return the product after delivery.
