Ruined City 24”x24” / 61x61 cm - mat for wargames
Compatible with
Half the block has already come down: the paving is cracked, scorch marks show where the last firefight went off, and heaps of brick lie where walls used to stand. Ruined City lays that street across 24" x 24" (61 x 61 cm) of rubber, sized for small sci-fi skirmishes - MERCS 2.0, Stargrave, Five Parsecs from Home, Planet 28 and Space Weirdos - and the double-sided version turns over to grass.
Key features of the Ruined City 24" x 24" mat
- Cracked paving, scorch marks, rubble - dark grey paving slabs split by cracks, the faint outlines of old foundations, black blast scorches and piles of brick and stone in places - a city floor for the walls, containers and barricades you bring.
- A size five games can use - Space Weirdos keeps its smallest games to 24" x 24", Planet 28 recommends 2' x 2', Five Parsecs from Home battles take two to three feet square, the Stargrave rules make allowances for a 60 x 60 cm table, and MERCS 2.0 asks for a play area no bigger than 2' x 3'.
- Grass under the city - the double-sided version carries green grass on its other face; the single-sided version keeps an anti-slip rubber base.
- Natural rubber, printed polyester top - the print is on a polyester surface over a 2 mm base of natural rubber, with laser-cut edges; wipe it down after a game, then roll or fold it away.

Where the Ruined City 24" x 24" mat fits
Bring any miniatures - Space Weirdos says to use any minis you have and measures everything with 5" sticks, Planet 28 lets you field the miniatures you want in a warband of at least two characters, and in Five Parsecs from Home the miniatures are up to you as well - so the figures already on your shelf can fight here.
Stargrave crews and their loot - a captain and a lieutenant lead a handful of soldiers, mechanics and hackers, and most scenarios are built around loot tokens - which the rubble and scorched paving give somewhere believable to lie.
Five-a-side MERCS 2.0 - two teams of five fight over a play area no bigger than 2' x 3', and the 2.0 rulebook asks for obstacles placed so that neither side gets the upper hand.
Solo nights in the ruins - Planet 28 has solo and co-op rules, Space Weirdos comes with a separate solo document, and both Stargrave and Five Parsecs from Home can be played alone - so the mat still gets used when nobody else is free.
What makes the Ruined City 24" x 24" mat different
Ruined City is the darkest of our urban battle mats: grey city paving and blackened blast marks, where Desert Ruin has sun-bleached streets and Wasteland an open, cracked highway. The cover comes from the buildings and rubble you set on top, and 24" x 24" is our smallest Ruined City size - compatible with Planet 28, MERCS 2.0, Space Weirdos, Stargrave and Five Parsecs from Home, while double-sided buyers get a green grass reverse.
Frequently asked questions
Can I play Deadzone on it?
Not as it comes. The size matches Deadzone's 2' x 2' battlefield, but the game counts movement and range in 3" squares on an 8 x 8 grid, and this mat has no grid printed on it.
Which games need a bigger table?
Bigger Space Weirdos games (125 points) and standard Stargrave games are played on 3' x 3'; for those, Ruined City is available in 36" x 36" too.
Is the city side the same on both versions?
Yes. Double-sided mats get green grass in place of the plain rubber back that grips the table, so you can move from the ruins to open country.
FAQ
How long does it take to make and send my order?
Products from our regular offer are usually made and handed to the carrier within up to 10 business days of your order. If your order needs more time, we let you know by email. Orders paid by bank transfer go into production once the payment reaches us.
How long does delivery take?
Courier shipments within Europe arrive within 3 to 5 business days of dispatch. Parcel post can take up to 2 weeks within the European Union and more than a month outside it. Every order gets a tracking link, so you can follow the parcel all the way to your table.
How much does shipping cost?
Free shipping from 200 EUR within the EU and from 400 USD outside the EU. Below these thresholds, delivery costs depend on the destination and parcel weight. The exact price is shown at checkout.
Do you ship outside Europe?
Yes. Besides Europe, we ship by courier to the United States, Canada and Asia. Courier prices outside Europe depend on the destination and the weight of the parcel and are shown in the cart before you pay.
What payment methods can I use?
You can pay online through Stripe or PayPal, which covers credit cards and many popular banking systems, or by bank transfer. Unpaid bank transfer orders are cancelled five business days after they are placed. All prices in the store are gross prices in euro.
Will I get an invoice?
Yes. On request we issue a receipt or a VAT invoice for your order. It goes into the parcel or arrives by email as a PDF file, sent to the address you gave when ordering.
Will the product look exactly like the photos?
Very close, but not always identical. Phones and monitors show colours in RGB, and each screen renders them a little differently depending on brightness and settings. We print in CMYK with our own calibration and match the print to the design as closely as possible.
Is the size exactly as listed?
Almost. Our materials are cut at high temperatures, so the final dimensions of a mat can differ by up to +/- 5 mm from the listed size. On a gaming table this difference has no effect on play, deployment zones or card layouts.
Can I return this product if it is not right for my table?
Yes. You can withdraw from the purchase within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason, by sending us the return form. You cover the cost of sending the product back, and we refund your payment, including the original standard delivery cost. Custom products made to your own design cannot be returned this way.
What if my order arrives damaged or I get the wrong product?
File a complaint with your order number, a short description and photos of the problem. You can choose a refund of the price plus delivery or an exchange for a new or correct product, and we cover the shipping both ways. We respond to every complaint within 14 days.
Can I cancel my order before it arrives?
Yes. You can withdraw from the order at any point until you receive it by sending us a statement, for example the return form. This does not shorten your 14-day right to return the product after delivery.
