Wargame Mat 31"x22" / 79x56,4 cm - Hits and Crits - Forest of Whispers - rubber mat - Godtear Compatible
Compatible with
The warbands come in from opposite edges, and before long the fight drifts towards the old stone dais at the centre of the clearing, champions circling the ruins while banners go up between the stones. Forest of Whispers puts that clearing on your table: a Hits and Crits rubber mat compatible with Godtear, 31" x 22" (79 x 56.4 cm), with a fine hex grid over the scenery and the battle ladder printed down one side.
Key features of the Forest of Whispers mat
- A meadow built on ruins - sunlit grass over carved stone: a round dais at the centre, paved squares, a carved relief slab, an octagonal platform, a spiral stone and a line of fallen blocks.
- A pond, a fallen statue and yellow blooms - a small pond ringed by rocks in one corner and a toppled statue among yellow-flowering shrubs in another, so every part of the field has something to recognise.
- Fine hex lines that let the scenery lead - the grid is drawn thin over the artwork, so the ruins stay in front while every hex is still there for counting moves.
- A battle ladder you don't have to set up - it runs down the left edge, blue cells towards the top end, yellow towards the bottom and neutral cells between, on the same rubber as the battlefield.
- 2 mm natural rubber that stays put - single-sided polyester print, anti-slip rubber back and a laser-cut edge, so the clearing doesn't creep across the table while champions move hex by hex.

Where the Forest of Whispers mat fits
Talking a move through - "two hexes past the pond" or "behind the statue" is quicker than counting from the edge, and the ruins give both players the same reference points when an objective hex goes down in the middle of the field.
Warbands on show - green grass and grey stone sit behind your champions and followers, painted or straight from the box, without competing with them, whether the game is at home or on a club table.
Retiring the cardboard board - the board in a starter set is double-sided cardboard; this mat replaces it with rubber that grips the table, carries the ladder on the same piece and rolls up when you're done.
What makes the Forest of Whispers mat different
Of the four Hits and Crits Godtear designs, this is the one where the scenery leads: carved ruins, a pond and a fallen statue spread across the battlefield, with the hex lines kept fine so the artwork carries the table. The official alternative, a neoprene Broken Plains mat sold as a 2018 Kickstarter add-on, has been sold out for years. Forest of Whispers gives you the hex battlefield and the ladder on 2 mm natural rubber instead of the starter set's cardboard.
Frequently asked questions
Is Forest of Whispers an official Godtear mat?
No - it's artwork from Hits and Crits, Playmats.eu's own line, made to fit Godtear; Steamforged Games has no part in producing or licensing it.
Are the hex lines easy to see?
Every hex is outlined, but in fine lines so the ruins stay visible. If you'd rather have bold outlines, Skullroad Temple and The Glades Temple use dark, heavy lines on the same layout.
What else do I need to play on it?
Your Godtear set - objective hexes, banners, cards and tokens go on top of the mat as usual, while the battlefield and the battle ladder are already printed on it.
How do I store it?
Roll it up or fold it between games. It's 2 mm natural rubber with a polyester top, and the laser-cut edge doesn't fray.
FAQ
How long does it take to make and send my order?
Products from our regular offer are usually made and handed to the carrier within up to 10 business days of your order. If your order needs more time, we let you know by email. Orders paid by bank transfer go into production once the payment reaches us.
How long does delivery take?
Courier shipments within Europe arrive within 3 to 5 business days of dispatch. Parcel post can take up to 2 weeks within the European Union and more than a month outside it. Every order gets a tracking link, so you can follow the parcel all the way to your table.
How much does shipping cost?
Free shipping from 200 EUR within the EU and from 400 USD outside the EU. Below these thresholds, delivery costs depend on the destination and parcel weight. The exact price is shown at checkout.
Do you ship outside Europe?
Yes. Besides Europe, we ship by courier to the United States, Canada and Asia. Courier prices outside Europe depend on the destination and the weight of the parcel and are shown in the cart before you pay.
What payment methods can I use?
You can pay online through Stripe or PayPal, which covers credit cards and many popular banking systems, or by bank transfer. Unpaid bank transfer orders are cancelled five business days after they are placed. All prices in the store are gross prices in euro.
Will I get an invoice?
Yes. On request we issue a receipt or a VAT invoice for your order. It goes into the parcel or arrives by email as a PDF file, sent to the address you gave when ordering.
Will the product look exactly like the photos?
Very close, but not always identical. Phones and monitors show colours in RGB, and each screen renders them a little differently depending on brightness and settings. We print in CMYK with our own calibration and match the print to the design as closely as possible.
Is the size exactly as listed?
Almost. Our materials are cut at high temperatures, so the final dimensions of a mat can differ by up to +/- 5 mm from the listed size. On a gaming table this difference has no effect on play, deployment zones or card layouts.
Can I return this product if it is not right for my table?
Yes. You can withdraw from the purchase within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason, by sending us the return form. You cover the cost of sending the product back, and we refund your payment, including the original standard delivery cost. Custom products made to your own design cannot be returned this way.
What if my order arrives damaged or I get the wrong product?
File a complaint with your order number, a short description and photos of the problem. You can choose a refund of the price plus delivery or an exchange for a new or correct product, and we cover the shipping both ways. We respond to every complaint within 14 days.
Can I cancel my order before it arrives?
Yes. You can withdraw from the order at any point until you receive it by sending us a statement, for example the return form. This does not shorten your 14-day right to return the product after delivery.
